A device (18) is described for adjusting the inclination of a backrest (2) to a desired seating position (1). This device consists of a first support element (9) of the said backrest (2) and of a second element (4), there being movement of the first element (9) relative to the said second element for adjusting the inclination of the backrest (2). Moreover, the device comprises means (28, 30) which allow securing and uncoupling between the first (9) and the second (4) elements. The main feature of the device consists in the fact that the abovementioned means have a multiplicity of grooves (30) which are provided on the first element (9) as well as wedge devices (28) which rest on the second element (4) and are movable between a disengagement and an engagement position with at least some of the abovementioned grooves (30), and actuating devices (21, 19), with the aid of which the wedge devices (28) can be brought into the abovementioned engagement and disengagement positions corresponding to an essentially straight-line movement. <IMAGE> |
