<p>The present invention relates to a coin sensor in which a coin element passes between one pole of a permanent magnet 84 and one pole of a pole extension magnet 96, the permanent magnet 84 magnetically polarizing the pole extension magnet 96 to substantially the same magnetic polarity as said one of the poles of the permanent magnet 84. The magnetic field between the permanent magnet 84 and the pole extension magnet 96 is changed via the imposed coin element 16 and a sensor coil 116 produces an output signal indicative of the change in the magnetic field, thereby uniquely indicative of the interposed coil element 16. <IMAGE></p> |
