A heat pump possesses a closed thermodynamic circuit associated with a closed heating circuit, the heat exchange between the fluids circulating in these two circuits taking place at the level of a condenser (4). A retaining device (3) having a valve (17) is fitted in the delivery pipe of a compressor (2) of the thermodynamic circuit, between this compressor (2) and the condenser (4), preventing any reverse circulation of the fluid in the thermodynamic circuit in the event of a prolonged stoppage of the operation of the thermodynamic circuit.
