Twenty-eight title compds. (I; R = H, Me; R2 = C6-12 straight chain alkyl) useful as therapeutic agent of treating vascular disease, were prepd. by reaction of alkylthiophenol (II) and spihalohydrine(III; X = halogen, optionally Cl, Br) followed by condn. with amine(III). Thus, 5.6 g II(R = Me) and 2.4 g NaOH in 50 ml H2O were treated with 7.4 g III(X=Cl) to give 1-(4-methoxythio)phenoxy-2,3-epoxypropane followed by refluxing with IV(R2 = n-C8H17) to give I(yield, 21%; m.p., 79.5-80.5≦̸C).
