PURPOSE:To attain access to a data set in the same volume by interposing a cross-call controller between a magnetc disk device and a disk controller and by reserving tracks of each magnetic disk device, one by one, by the controller. CONSTITUTION:To hosts 1-3 which access data in an auxiliary storage device like a magnetic disk device, magnetic controllers 4 and 5 are connected, and between those controllers 4 and 5, and a magnetic disk control adapter 7, a cross-call controller 6 is provided. When the reserve of a track in a drive 8 is received from the hosts 1-3 by the controllers 4 and 5, an interface and a track address for the reserve are specified to indicate the reserve to the controller 6. The controller 6 checks the reserve state of the track 8 to form an entry in a table. tracks in the magnetic disk device are reserved, one by one, by the controller 6. |
