IRRADIATION SURVEILLANCE SPECIMEN ASSEMBLY

A surveillance specimen assembly is used to house specimens(40) which monitor irradiation in a nuclear reactor vessel(10). Specimen capsules(80) are located end-to-end in an elongated holder tube(41). The tube has perforations(51) and end closures(50). The capsules fit together by way of V-shaped end recesses and projections, which also fit to the end closures. An axial force is applied to constrain the stock of capsules. The arrangement facilitates loading and withdrawal of capsules during replacement.
