The disclosure describes an immunosuppressive composition of matter which comprises a pharmacologically acceptable diluent and an immunosuppressive effective amount of synthetically produced 1-(thiocarbamoyl)-2-imidazolidinone of the formula: Also disclosed is a method of suppressing an immunological response in a patient by administering to such patient an immunosuppressive effective amount of synthetically produced 1-(thiocarbamoyl)-2-imidazolidinone of the formula: Preparation of 1-(thiocarbamoyl)-2-imidazolidinone by reacting thiourea with .beta.-chlorethylisocyanate and then with an acid binding agent.
