ELECTRICAL CONTACT MATERIAL AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain an Ag-Fe-C electrical contact material with low contact resistance, high melt-sticking resistance and a satisfactory hardly dissipative property by mixing and dispersing atomized powders of nodular graphite cast iron and Ag having a specified grain size in a proper ratio and by press-molding and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:5-30wt% Atomized powder of nodular graphite cast iron having -100 mesh is mixed with 70-95% atomized powder of Ag having -100 mesh and dispersed. The mixture is press-molded and sintered in a reducing or inert atmosphere or in a vaccum, and after raising the pressure, molding and sintering are repeated. By this method an Ag-Fe-C sintered electrical contact material with enhanced contact performance is obtd.
