PURPOSE:To provide a color tone close to gold color or superior corrosion resistance to the surface layers of external parts for a watch obtd. by forming a titanium nitride film on the surface of a metallic or nonmetallic material, by implanting ions in the surface layers by an ion implanting method. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a watchcase made of stainless steel is coated with titanium nitride in about 1.0mum thickness by an ion plating method. After washing the surface, gold ions are implanted at about 150keV and about 165mA. The density of gold ions is about 1X10<17>ions/cm<2>, and the implanting depth is about 1,000Angstrom . Since the watchcase has a complex shape, the implantation is carried out while rotating the watchcase so as to make the surface to be implanted even. Thus, a color tone comparable to gold is obtd., and the corrosion resistance is enhanced. |
