996,645. Making bags. BILLERUDS A.B. Aug. 22, 1963 [Sept. 21, 1962; Jan. 10, 1963], No. 33240/63. Heading B5D. A strip of paper or plastics material 22 is pulled from a roll 5 in a frame 1 between two guiding plates 6, 9 and is folded over an edge 11 on the plate 6 by a folding member 14 hinged to the plate 9 so as to form the bottom of the bag. Sealing means 20 then seal the longitudinal edges of the bag as the folded strip is pulled further from the roll 5, recesses 10, 16 in the plates 9, 14 enabling the strip to be gripped by hand. The bag is finally torn from the strip along one of the edges 12, 19, both of which are provided with toothed portions 13, 17 to facilitate this. As shown, self-adhesive stripes 23 are provided along the longitudinal edges of the strip 22 and the sealing means comprise rollers 20. However, heat-sealing can also be used. |
