PURPOSE:To permit measurement of the displacement of a transparent object, by making it possible to change the angle between an optical fiber on the light- projecting side and an optical fiber on the light-receiving side adapted to cross the former at any angle. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 for projecting light and an optical fiber 2 for receiving light make an angle theta. For the measurement of water surface displacement, the angle between the optical fibers 1 and 2 is set to the angle of total reflection. Then, light is horizontally projected through the optical fiber 1, and the light totally reflected from the water surface is received by the optical fiber 2. The displacement of the water surface is determined by the amount of the received light. |
