Non-crystallizing, linear, liquid polythio ether which is resistant to water, solvents, fuel and temperature, which does not contain any carbonyl groups and whose formula is: <IMAGE> where each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, with the proviso that a sufficient number of R1, R2, R3 and/or R4 are lower alkyl in the said polymer backbone chain in order to make the backbone chain non- crystallizing, X is a divalent organic group selected from -CH2-CH2-, -CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-, -CH2-CH2-S-CH2-CH2- and -CH2-CH2-O-CH2-CH2-, n is 15 to 200, p is 0 or 1, and B is an end group which does not materially reduce the resistance to water, solvents and fuel, which end group is either a chemically nonreactive group or a vulcanizable group which can be cured to form an elastomeric sealing agent. |
