When drilling bent drill holes, one uses a drill bit the rotation axis of which forms an angle with the centre axle for a steering pipe 1, which carries the drill bit. The plane through the centre axle is positionally determined by means of a device containing a magnet 9 arranged inside the steering pipe 1, where said magnet works with a sensor device 26, 27 which is rotated by a motor 22 in a housing 11 inserted into the steering pipe and which emits a first position signal each time it passes the magnet. The housing 11 contains a chamber 29, with an electrically-conducting fluid 30 and another sensor device 28, which is rotated by the motor 22 at a predetermined speed and which generates a first position signal each time it comes in contact with the fluid 30.
