<p>The collector consists of a reflecting dish (1) rotating about an axis (5) in accordance with the angle of the sun. An absorber (3) is positioned on supports (4), at the focal point of the dish and consists of a heat exchanger in the form of a very thin water jacket with an insulating backing, and glazed on the front surface. A temp. probe is installed between the absorber and the glazing and is connected to the operating cylinder (7) of the dish. The fluid in the temp. probe expands when heated and rotates the dish in steps in an East-to-West direction. As the dish moves the probe cools and stops the dish until the sun moves round to re-heat the probe.</p> |
