Title compds.(I; R = H, C2-3 alkanoyl; Ac = C2-3 alkanoyl) were prepd. by the reaction of 1 mole triethylamine and the reaction product obtained from the oxidation of IA at 0-25≦̸C in active solvent. Thus, 467 mg N-chlorosuccinimide was dissolved at -5≦̸C in 20 ml toluene and 6 ml benzene, followed by addition of 0.337 ml dimethyl sulfide, stirred at 0≦̸C for 20 min. The reaction product was cooled to -25≦̸C, and stirred with 2'-acetyloleandomycin at -20≦̸C for 2 hr in 15 ml toluene to give 212 mg 2'-acetyl-4"-deoxy-4"-oxo-oleandomycin.
