<p>The safety container renders matches childproof by preventing access to the striking surface (14). The latter is contained in a protective compartment (1). This can be so arranged that the match has to be inserted into it for striking, with the aid of additional finger pressure. The internal surface of the compartment can be fireproofed, and the striking surface can be masked by a hinging tongue formed by two flat parallel segments, one of which acts as a spring, while a third connects them.
