6-Aryl-4H-s-triazolo-(3,4-c)-thieno-(2,3-e)-1,4-diazepines of the formula VII are prepared by starting from a compound of the formula I. The substituents in the formulae have the meaning given in the independent claims. The reaction steps comprise, consecutively, reduction, cyclisation, treatment with phosphorus pentasulphide, trialkyloxonium fluoroborate or a phosphorus pentahalide, reaction with an acid hydrazide, cleavage of the oxazepine ring, halogenation, reaction with ammonia or with a substance yielding ammonia, and dehydration. The compounds of the formula VII and their acid addition salts possess pharmaceutical properties. <IMAGE>
