Compositions for controlling ectoparasites containing, as active ingredient, compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1, R2 and R3 independently of one another denote hydrogen, an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms which is bonded by an oxygen or sulphur atom or an alkenyl radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, halogen, cyano, trifluoromethyl, nitro, amino or acetamido, R4 denotes hydrogen, an alkyl radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms or hydroxymethyl, R5 and R6 independently of one another denote hydrogen, an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms or a hydroxyl group, and R<7> and R<8> denote in each case a hydrogen atom or together denote a bond between the adjacent carbon atoms, including their acid addition salts which are not toxic to warm-blooded species. In addition, the compositions contain expedient carriers, spreaders, diluents and/or other additives. They have valuable properties for controlling mites, in particular ticks, and lice, and they are particularly effective for preventing fertile eggs from being laid.
