<p>The invention relates to a method of increasing the fire resistance of moulded foam cushioning, for example, latex foam rubber or polyurethane moulded foam. The invention comprises enclosing the cushioning with a thin layer of a filled non-gel rubber latex foam prepared from natural rubber latex, a synthetic rubber latex not containing halogen in the polymer chain or a blend of two or more of such latices. Preferably 200 to 350 parts of a fire retarding filler, such as aluminium trihydrate, is used in the non-gel foam.</p> |
