The element has a flat container which encloses a carrier of fragrant substances and has at least one porous wall. The object consists in providing a particularly flat volatilisation element which can be placed in at least one volatilisation position, can be sealed again if required and is suitable, in particular, for carrying in pockets which are in any case present in jackets, shirts, blouses, etc. The volatilisation element consists of a small hollow plate (1) in which there is a sheet (4) of nonwoven. The side walls (1) of the small hollow plate are provided with volatilisation apertures (1c). A flat hollow item (3) adjoins the small hollow plate (1) at the top as a perfume reserve chamber. The two chambers (1a, 3a) are connected to one another by bores (1d) through which chemical fibre wicks (5a, 5b) lead. A covering element is constructed as a sheath-like body (6). It can be engaged in different volatilisation positions and moved into a sealing position if required. <IMAGE>
