The covering comprises at least two layers, that is to say an outer layer (1) and an inner layer (2). The outer layer (1) consists of profiled sheet metal and the inner layer (2) consists of plastic material. The two layers (1, 2) are connected to each other and can be moved, as a single unit, between two end positions. In one end position, in which the liquid basin is covered by the covering, the latter rests on the periphery (3a) of the basin (3), which periphery forms a receiving surface for the edge of the covering. A heat-insulating air cushion thus arises between the inner layer (2) of the covering and the liquid level in the basin (3). <IMAGE>
