摘要 PURPOSE:To evade influence due to the aggravation of an overwrite characteristic, by providing a means which sets a recording current by measuring the change of the overwrite characteristic due to the change of coercive force of a magnetic material, and also, evades the aggravation of the overwrite characteristic. CONSTITUTION:When a data is written, an overwrite controlling processor 104 senses a temperature by a signal from a temperature sensing sensor 103, and controls a write current driver 105 based on the above value, and changes a current which flows on a readout/write shared head 102 so as to keep the depth of write almost constant. When the temperature sensed by the sensor 103 exceeds the control range of the depth of the write, the processor 104 sets a signal 124. When the signal 124 is set, a write prohibiting signal is set by taking the OR of the signal 124 and a signal 125 representing the state of an erroneous erasure preventing notch in a magnetic recording medium 101, then, the device is set under a write prohibiting state. In such a way, it is possible to attain recording with high density since no influence due to the aggravation of the overwrite characteristic is given, even when a thick magnetic medium is used.
