Title compd. was prepd. by the oxidation of phenylphosphonus dihalide at 0-200≦̸C, atm. in the presence of charcoal. Thus, 1 g benzene phosphinic acid was added in 358 ml distilled phenylphosphonus dichloride, and passed through oxygen with 0.625 mole/hr. The reactant was oxidated at 28-52≦̸C for 6 hr to give benzene phosphonic dihalide.
