Novel surface active agents are disclosed having the formula: wherein R is hydrogen, an alkyl or alkenyl having about 1 to about 18 carbon atoms or an aryl or aralkyl having about 6 to about 24 carbon atoms; each R' is independently selected from the same group as R with the proviso that at least a majority of R' radicals attached to each Si atom are sterically hindered alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms; R" is alkyl or alkenyl of 1-20 carbons; R"' is hydrogen or methyl; and n is an integer of from about 5 to about 50.
