The gas-compressor operating system is particularly for a compressor station transporting gas over long distances and in permafrost areas. The gas is compressed dependent on the ambient temperature to an outlet pressure higher than necessary by a compressor (23) driven by a gas turbine (13). Only part of the total heat generated is dissipated in a conventional heat exchanger (22), preferably using air as the cooling medium. The remainder is dissipated by expanding the gas to the desired outlet pressure and using it to do work in the process, typically by passing it through an expansion turbine (11,14). |
