NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance PA-31088-II, chemical name: (5R,6R)- 3-[(E)-2-acetamidoethenylsulfinyl]-6-[(S)-1-hydroxyethyl]-7-oxo-1-azab icyclo [3.2.0]hept-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid of the formula and a salt thereof. USE:An antimicrobial agent and an inhibitor against beta-lactamases. PROCESS:Streptomyces tokunonensis PA-31088 (FERM-P No.4843) or Streptomyces argenteolus PA-39504 (FERM-P No.5265) is cultivated in a liquid cluture medium under aerobic conditions, and the aimed substance is then separated by the filtration, various ion exchange resins, etc. and purified to give the compound of the formula. |
