The axial roller bearing comprises two outer races (1,2) each side of a set of rollers (4) and rotating relative to one another. The axes of rotation of the rollers lie radially. The rollers are held by a cage between the two races. The outer ends of the races are folded over so that they overlap. The end (8) of one race partially hooks around the other race. This partially hooked end is formed before that race is hardened. The cage is inserted between the races after it has been hardened. The partial hook is then made a complete hook by exercising radial pressure on its race and heating so that the races are held together.
