PURPOSE:To manufacture a steel strip having excellent shape characteristics by a method in which a steel strip of a sorbitic pearlite structure formed by patenting treatment is cold-rolled, thermally refined and rolled under a reduced pressure following a low-temperature annealing, and then subjected to a blueing treatment. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip for steel belt, e.g., of carbon steel, alloy steel, mechanical structural steel, etc., is subjected to a patenting treatment in which it is continuously cooled from a temperature for maintaining austenization at a desired cooling rate in order to convert it into a sorbitic pearlite structure, whereby improving the strength, toughness, and spring limit value of the steel strip. Then, the steel strip is cold-rolled at a draft of 20-80%, annealed at a low temperature of 300-500 deg.C for recovering its elongation, and then thermally refined and rolled under a light pressure at an elongation rate of 1-10% in order to raise the shape characteristic of the steel strip. Afterwards, the steel strip is subjected to a blueing treatment at 300-450 deg.C in order to impart it a corrosion resistance and a heat absorptivity, and then thermally refined and rolled to remove its processing strain to be caused during temper rolling. |
