The swivelling cutting boom, and endless conveyor running centrally along the frame, with feed devices extending to the face, are involved in picking up and carrying away debris, on forward-driving and loading machines in an underground mine. The coupling-rod conveyors (8) are in each case mounted on an end of the frame of the conveyor (5) so as to be displaceable lengthways on it. This movement can be effected by guide tubes (8) on the frame on both sides, containing telescopicallyially movable guide tubes (10) fastened to the conveyor, the guide tubes being pref. moved by piston-and-cylinder units (12,13). Debris can be picked close to the face, permitting insertion of support systems.
