The car roller roof for shielding against the sun has a roller support beam which is arranged on a car roof bow and bears two rolled-up sun-shielding tarpaulins held in parallel, and is attached to the car roof bow such that it can be horizontally rotated by means of the vertical connecting spindle. Since the rolled-up sun-shielding tarpaulins, owing to the desired shadow, are wider than the vehicle itself, they must be fastened by support elements in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle for transportation on the car roof. To obtain the sun-shielding position at the parking place, the sun-shielding tarpaulins are rotated out of the vehicle longitudinal direction into the vehicle transverse direction and then one tarpaulin is unrolled towards the front part of the vehicle and the other towards the rear part of the vehicle and secured by a tightener and hooks. The auxiliary bows are used for securing the roller support beam in the longitudinal direction and for maintaining the heat-insulating distance of the tarpaulins from the car roof. The extendable struts support the tarpaulins over the width of the vehicle. The securing of the car roller roof for shielding against the sun to the car roof and also the unrolling and rolling up of the tarpaulins can take place in 1-2 minutes.
