The panel unit used esp. where services leads and pipes have to be laid underneath, consists of a flexurally rigid floor panel, in a double floor, made as a chipboard piece with sheet metal support on the underside. This support consists of a sheet metal trough (2), drawn upwards at the edges of the chipboard panel (1), and porous at the bottom. It can have holes (4) in the bottom, the holes being pref. concentrated into one area, leaving another (6) unperforated. The trough's raised edge is pref. in the ratio of 1:2.5 of panel thickness. Holes can take up approx. 12 per cent of area, with holes approx3 mm. in dia. This combines adequate rigidity with a high degree of resistance to fire. |
