Xanthine derivatives of the general formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> and R<3> each denote an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms and R<2> denotes a cyclohexenyl, furyl, tetrahydrofuryl or thienyl group, and pharmacologically tolerable salts thereof with an alkali metal or a nitrogen-containing base, are novel, therapeutically useful compounds. They are particularly useful in the treatment of the respiratory and cardiovascular system. They can be prepared by cyclisation of a suitable 5-alkanoylamido-substituted 4-aminouracil compound or by reaction of a suitable substituted 5,6-diaminouracil with the anhydride of an acid R<3>-COOH. |
