The trailer wheels (5) are supported on trailing arms (4) pivoted about a front transverse axis (3) containing a double acting cylinder which pushes the two arms outwards laterally. At the same time the load surface drops between the wheels enabling the rear edge of the platform to rest on the ground. The cylinders have shaped heads which locate in profiled cut-outs in the vehicle frame (1) to prevent action when retracted. The rear of the trailing arms are linked to the chassis by dampers (7) and stabilising ties (23).
