The invention relates to an adjusting device for driving discs in rod drivers (pinch roll units) for rolled stock moving at high speed, having driving discs mounted in rockers which have partial toothing engaging in a worm arranged vertically in the driver housing and having both right-handed and left-handed toothing. The aim of the invention is as far as possible to eliminate the disadvantages caused by inaccurate setting of the driving discs, such as a reduction in the life of the driver and the risk of a break-down due to a back-up of the rod. It is thus the object of the invention to allow optimum setting of the nip and to ensure that the optimum setting of the driving discs is maintained when these have worn. According to the invention, the object is achieved by virtue of the fact that a spring-loaded tappet (7) arranged on the end face of the upper worm (5) is connected to a gear pair (8) and a contact lever (9) arranged on this gear pair and having a switching contact (10) or that, instead of the tappet (7), a switching disc (16) is provided and associated directly with this disc is a proximity switch (18) lying in the same plane.
