The known harvesting wheel set has the inconvenience that, on the one hand, they damage especially large root crops by cutting through them and, on the other hand, they can themselves get damaged by large stones. In the wheel set according to the invention, the wheels 1 are arranged in a rotational bearing 8 at the free end of powerful leaf springs 4. In this way, the wheels can be moved apart upon making contact with large root crops or large stones. The leaf springs, furthermore, will impart to the wheels a vibrating motion, which has the effect of loosening the root crops and picking them up undamaged. Furthermore, the vibrations will shake off the dirt from the root crops, so that there are fewer demands on the cleaning elements of the harvesting machine, figure 3. <IMAGE>
