The invention "wide-necked seal for casks" relates to hollow bodies made of plastic material with outer projections integrally formed on the cask neck and a lid which engages over the opening and is divided into segments in the outer region. The lid segments are locked in the sealing position underneath the neck projections by a clamping means. The aim is pursued of providing a liquid-tight seal which is resistant to high mechanical loads. The essential features of the invention are the association of each neck projection with one lid segment which receives the neck projection in an opening, and also the rectilinearly limited linking of the lid segments to the lid circumference. The support for the clamping means is formed by a lower, rib-shaped opening limitation and by outer segment tongues pointing upwards. The invention is used in the sphere of transport packages blow-moulded from plastic material and having a large opening cross section.
