The lock can be actuated by a key insertable from either side. In order, despite the possibility of operating the lock on two sides, to allow a free choice for the steps of the key bit also to be designed as a double bit, the locking tumblers (9) of the first set are connected crosswise to the locking tumblers (11) of the second set. The interconnected locking tumblers (9, 11) are designed with an identical tumbler channel (9b, 11b). At the same time, the two locking-tumbler sets (9, 11) can be arranged one above the other. It is possible, furthermore, to provide the locking tumblers (9, 11), on their vertical edges, with angled connecting pieces which are positively coupled to the connecting pieces of the associated locking tumbler (11, 9) of the other respective set, preferably in that they engage into one another in a hook-like manner. <IMAGE>
