Chest type freezer with folding cover - formed in two parts with front part foldable over rear part along front edge of chest

The household chest freezer prevents complete opening of its cover with corresp. reduction of air exchange, while simultaneously providing a deposition surface on the partly closed cover portion. The cover consists of two parts, the front part being foldable over the rear part along the front edge of the chest. The front cover part is so hinged to the rear part that during the last phase of closing the front part is guided parallel to the forward side of the rear cover part. The forward side of the rear cover part may have a shoulder with a sealing element. Lateral sealing elements of the two cover parts may be so arranged that they abut each other along oblique surfaces when closed.
