<p>The appts. for separating water from gas pipes and vessels is intended esp. for use in conjunction with a gas pressure measuring device connected to a borehole in undisturbed rock for determining the gas pressure in the rock before excavation, mining etc. The pressure measuring device is connected via the sealed length of the borehole with a pressure chamber at the far end of the borehole; it is the water accumulating in this chamber and draining off from it which is to be separated by the water separation appts. Upstream of the pressure recorder connected to the gas pipe, the water separator is connected in the form of a long, vertical vessel containing a float. This float acts upon a preliminary or control valve which in turn opens the main valve (not shown) in the water discharge pipe from the vessel. Preferably, the float is a long plastics tube (4) connected by a rod (5) passing into the float with the control valve (2). Preferably also a circular magnet (6) at the top edge of the float cooperates with steel screws or bolts (7) at the inner edge of the top cover (10) of the vessel so that as the float rises a sudden snap action causes it to actuate the valve (2).</p> |
