The invention relates to an arrangement for setting the cycle time of intermittently operating folding knives on paper sheet-processing machines. The aim of the invention is, with minimum time consumption, to achieve in a selective manner an exact adjustment of the cycle time for folding knives to the sheet format to be processed with a respective sheet gap necessary for the folding accuracy. For this purpose the transmission ratio between the drive of the folding knives has to be controlled such that any belt paths on the conveying means of the folding machine have exactly allocated to them in each case one complete operating cycle of the folding knife. This object is achieved according to the invention in that a device capable of varying the speed, preferably a gear with infinitely variable transmission ratio, is connected to a measurement and control arrangement which exactly and automatically sets the associated cycle time for any belt path input into a preselection counter unit. <IMAGE>
