The sector in which the invention is preferably used is the production and processing, especially heat treatment, of strand-like material (man-made silk, glass filaments, foil strips) in spinning, drawing and texturing machines and of planar sheet-like structures (foils). The subject of the invention is a heatable galette (1) or cylinder having, inside it, a hermetically closed hollow body partially filled with a heat-exchange fluid which is solely under its own vapour pressure. According to the invention, the hermetically closed hollow body is designed as a tube coil (14), the tubes running to and fro in a meander-like manner between the axial ends of the galette (1) and being connected to one another by means of tube bends (16). The entire tube coil (14) is given an annular shape and is preferably connected to a copper layer (13) introduced as a short-circuit ring for induction heating. Particular advantages of the invention are the more favourable production and the lower outlay in terms of the filling and sealing of the galette (1) with the heat-exchange fluid. <IMAGE>
