摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic material for a magnetic head core with high magnetic flux density and high magnetic permeability, high abrasion resistance and low magnetic strain containing Si, Cr in a predetermined ratio and comprising the remainder of Fe. CONSTITUTION:Said magnetic material is based on Si, Cr, and Fe, that is, contains 30-140wt% Si, 0.1-11.0wt% Cr respectively and constituted from the remainder of Fe. Then, said magnetic material has characteristics wherein magnetic flux density is 12,000 gause or more, Vicker's hardness is about 400, an abrasion amount when a tape is run for 100hr is about 5mum and magnetic strain lambdas is + or -2X10<-6> or less. Further, in a form substituting a part of Fe in the aforementioned components, Al, Mo, W or the like may be contained in an amount of 0.018% respectively and V, Nb, Cu or the like in an amount of 0.01-5.0% respectively as auxiliary components.
