<p>Appts. for handling measuring and sampling probes, which can be coupled to a probe lance for lowering the probe into a melt and removing it again, comprises a magazine in which the probes are stored, and from which an individual probe can be brought into a removal position parallel to the axis of the lance: from this position the probe can be horizontally swung by slewing arm to the position directly beneath the lance. The slewing arm carries two pairs of grippers, one above the other, with a cutting disc between them: the upper pair of grippers, i.e. the probe gripper, can be adjusted in height relative to the lower pair of grippers, i.e. the specimen gripper. More specifically, the upper pair of grippers is mounted on a lifting trolley which can move (vertically) parallel to the axis of the lance. Used for taking temp. probes or other probes from a storage magazine, in particular a magazine where they are stored horizontally and feeding them to a lance which manipulates them to dip them into a molten bath. By arranging for the upper pair of grippers to be vertically movable, the need to raise or lower the lance to grip the probe is eliminated.</p> |
