PURPOSE:To simplify the gelling process of an electrolytic solution, by impregnating positive active material which is coated with a gelling agent with an electrolytic solution, then heating to gel the electrolytic solution, in a battery having the electrolytic solution made of alkyl polymethacrylate as a gelling agent. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode body 5 where a positive active material coated with alkyl polymethacrylate as a gelling agent is molded is impregnated with a electrolytic solution, thereafter, the electrolytic solution containing the gelling agent is gelled by heating. For instance, beads of methyl polymethacrylate (molecular weight: about 50,000) are dissolved in 1,2-dimethoxyethane to make a solution, into which the positive active material made of carbon fluoride is mixed. After volatizing the solvent, the solute is crushed into powder, which is mixed with acetylene black and a binder to make a mixture, then the mixture is pressed to make a molding body 5. Then the molding body is impregnated with a predetermined amount of the electrolytic solution and then gelled by heating. A separator 7 as well as a liquid-containing agent are impregnated with the gelling agent, they they are poured into the solution and gelled by heating. Consequently, the gelling process can be simplified and the battery performance can be also stabilized. |
