PURPOSE:To increase performance of an electrode plate and decrease cost of the captioned battery by impregnating in advance with a salt solution other than active salt forming materials into a substrate before introducing a long continuous electrode substrate into an electrolyte for continuous cathodic-electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:An electrode substrate 1 comprising, for example, a long continuous nickel sintered substrate is led into an electrolytic bath 2 containing an electrolyte 4 composed of nickel nitrate solution, and said substrate 1 is electrolyzed cathodically between a pair of counter electrodes 6 and the electrode substrate 1 which is negatively charged by being brought in contact with an electric supply roll 3, to deposit nickel hydroxide into pores of the substrate 1 for manufacturing an electrode. Before leading the electrode substrate 1 into the electrolyte 4, for example, cobalt nitrate solution other than the electrolyte 4 is impregnated in advance into the substrate 1 with a spray 5. |
