A functional electric device comprises a functional material layer (8), and a pair of electrodes (7, 10) separated from each other and in electrical contact with the functional material layer (8), at least one of the electrodes (10) being made of copper or an alloy thereof and a copper inactivating agent (9) being present between the functional material layer (8) and said at least one electrode (10). The functional electric device can be, for example, a heat-sensitive, fusing or photovoltaic element.
