Process for the production of broken-down organic lignin-cellulose polymers

Small particles of cellulose-containing plants are mixed with an alkali metal hydroxide, then heated to 150 DEG C. to 220 DEG C. while agitating, thereby producing a broken-down lignin-cellulose polymer which is then reacted with a substituted organic compound to produce an organic broken-down lignin-cellulose polymer.
