PURPOSE:To prevent backflow of ink to ink feed side and to efficiently transfer a change in volume in a head to a nozzle part, by a method wherein, at a driving time of an electrostriction vibrator, an electric field is applied to a part of ink in an ink feed path to enhance its viscosity. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 2, 2 are mounted at a part of an ink feed path, and in case an electrostriction vibrator 5 is driven, a voltage is first applied between the electrodes 2, 2 to enhance an ink viscosity and this prevents a change in the volume of an ink jet head 4 from escaping to an ink feed side. A printing information signal is then applied to the electrostriction vibrator 5, and then, ink is fed to the ink jet head 4 after a voltage between the electrodes 2, 2 is shut down. |
