<p>A fender is disclosed which comprises worn pneumatic tyres positioned against one another on a cylindrical metal tube. The tube is filled with light concrete. The worn tyres are filled with a low density elastic material. The part of the tyres adjacent to the tube is closed off in a water-tight manner by means of a flexible sleeve. The tube is closed of at its ends by means of projecting plates which hold the assembly of tyres pressed against one another. The fender is used to protect ship's hulls when ships come alongside a quay wall.</p> |
