PURPOSE:To improve the precision and yield of core work, by determining track width after uniting magnetic-material block halves with each other completely. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic-material block half bodies 7a and 7b are melt-stuck together with a prescribed gap 8 by using a nonmagnetic material 9 to form a semiannular magnetic-material block 7, where a projection part 7d with width t2 and a slit groove 7c with width T2 are formed; and a nonmagnetic spacer 10 is inserted into the groove 7c and a nonmagnetic material 11 is charged between the projection part 7d and a spacer 10 and fused to unite the block 7 and spacer 10 with each other. Then, the surface of the gap 8 is polished, the united body is cut at intermediate positions X1-X'1, X2-X'2- of the spacer 10 into blocks of core chips, and the tape sliding surface of each block is polished. Consequently, the nonmagnetic spacer is stuck to the tape sliding surface, so a core for a magnetic head has superior wear resistance. |
